FAQ

Q: Why are you canceling the event?

A: For the past five years, the Hastings Rotary has been grateful for the thousands of people coming out to enjoy Rivertown LIVE! on the Mississippi while supporting our charitable causes.  Nobody could have predicted the events that have unfolded since earlier this year.  We were really hoping that if we could hang on long enough, the threat would subside, we would see you all this coming September.  Most importantly, we were hoping to raise money this year for charities in need.

We’ve held on for as long as we could, but with the recent resurgence of the virus in most U.S. states, and as a result of recent conversations with city and state authorities, we agree that it is in attendees’ and participants’ best interest to cancel the event.  In Rotary, we have something called a ‘4-way test’ to guide our approach to providing service to the community:
    • Is it the TRUTH?
    • Is it FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED?
    • Will it BUILD GOODWILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
    • WILL IT BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED?

Our decision to cancel the event meets this 4-way test, and given current circumstances, it’s the right thing to do.  With regard to the tickets you already purchased, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

We’re grateful to all of you and can’t wait to see you all in 2021. Until then, stay well!

Q: Can I receive a refund for tickets purchased?

A: An email has been sent to all ticket buyers, and you will have the following options available to you:

Option 1: Donate your ticket purchase to Rivertown LIVE!
If you select this option, funds from your ticket purchase will be automatically donated to Rivertown LIVE!  Virtually 100% of profits from the event are donated to Rotary’s charitable causes, and all Rotarians organizing the event are volunteers, so you can rest assured your donation will help the charities that we support, and they would be very grateful.

Option 2: Keep your tickets and use them in 2021
If you do nothing, your ticket will automatically be rolled over to Rivertown LIVE! 2021, which is tentatively planned for September, 2021.  Your ticket level will remain as is whether that be Premium Reserved, Reserved or General Admission.  We are working hard to include the same great artists that you wanted to see this year and hope to have more information in the next few weeks to make your decision a little easier.  If you need help finding your tickets in EventBrite (our ticketing system), click here for instructions.

If you are unable to attend in 2021, you will have until August 1, 2020 to request a full refund for your ticket(s).

Option 3: Full refund – Deadline August 1, 2020
If you choose this option, we will process a full refund for the cost of your ticket plus all associated ticketing fees.  It may take up to one full billing cycle for this refund to appear in your account.  If you have questions, please send an email to tickets@rivertownlive.com.

Please DO NOT contact your bank. Volunteers at Rivertown LIVE! will handle all customer service requests.  Calling your bank triggers a $20 charge to the Hastings Rotary, and will take important funding out of our community.

Revenue from ticket sales to date has been reserved to enable refunds, so don’t worry, you’ll receive your money if requested.
